No Change In MAP From Start To Run
2004-2008 Chrysler Pacifica 3.5L V6
Description
The PCM has detected no change in the MAP sensor reading between engine cranking and engine running. Normally, MAP pressure drops significantly when the engine starts and develops vacuum. A flat MAP signal indicates the sensor is not responding.
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light
- Poor engine performance
- Rich running condition
- Black smoke
- Poor fuel economy
Common Causes
- Faulty MAP sensor (stuck reading)
- MAP sensor vacuum hose disconnected
- MAP sensor hose blocked or kinked
- Wiring issue providing fixed voltage to sensor
- PCM fault
Diagnostic Steps
- Monitor MAP sensor reading during cranking and after start
- Inspect MAP sensor vacuum hose connection and condition
- Apply vacuum to MAP sensor with hand pump and watch reading change
- Test MAP sensor wiring for opens or shorts
- Check 5V reference and ground circuits
Repair Notes
Replace the MAP sensor if it does not respond to vacuum changes.
